Everybody has about 360 joints in their entire body. What are joints suppose to do? Slide! Glide! Rotate! Move! If a joint is stuck, that means other joints need to move more and do more work. During the examination, those "stuck" joints will be found. The doctor will apply a specific amount of force in a specific direction to make that joint move safely. That is also called a chiropractic adjustment.
What is that "popping" noise and where is it coming from?
The "popping" noise is pressure being released from the joint capsule. The joint capsule is vital for joint function due to the responsibility to keep lubrication within the joint and to tell your brain the joint is moving. Just like a soda can, the pressure within the can is released once you open the can.
